SEATTLE - When the state needs money and doesn't want the fallout from raising taxes, what's to be done?

Well in this case, one only needs to find lackeys on the State Supreme Court.

So, if Your Honors would raise those black robes so as not to trip, please, get your bad selves down here.

See, with the swift bang of a gavel, the Supremes have raised the cost of speeding tickets by almost 25%.

I hear tell the hefty hike is to help keep up with inflation.

It's also to help pay for a new computer system.

It's also for programs getting tough on car thieves.

And it's also for helping people with serious brain injuries.

I guess I missed the alert on how inflation is suddenly running amok, and it seems to me that computer upgrades and social programs should be budgetary matters for the Legislature to address.

But hey, what do I know.

I mean, I specifically recall being repeatedly told that driving tickets and fines were all about safety, not money.

I guess that was just sunshine being blown up our judicial robes, so to speak.

Anyway, for once again sticking it to people while wearing a big smile; and for definitively proving that if you find a strange hand in your pocket, odds are it's at the end of a politicians arm, take a bow Supremes, because this "Schrammie" is for you.
